With an ever-increasing number of projects putting design responsibility on to the contractor and his specialists; the need for a strong Employer’s Agent to both establish and document the requirements of the project and then manage and control the contract processes on behalf of the Employer, is vital.

The Design and Build forms of contract are widely used by the Practice and have many strong merits for projects of a fast-track nature, where the Employer is looking for both time and cost certainty.

We have undertaken a large number of projects where the Practice has been retained as Employer’s Agent, ranging from around £500,000 to over £15 million.

When we act as Employer’s Agent or Contract Administrator, we ensure that the project’s key requirements and issues are clearly identified at the outset and then monitored and managed throughout the design and construction process to ensure the successful delivery of the project. The key skills used in ensuring success in this role are:
